Most travelers are required to apply visa to enter Vietnam and you must have a passport valid for more than 06 months after you go home.
There are exceptions:
- Visitors from Norway, Denmark, Sweden, Finland, Russia, Japan, South Korea are exempt of visa when they travel to Vietnam and stay for 15 days or less. They must bring their passport which is valid for more than 06 months and they show their return air ticket. If they want to stay longer than 15 days, they need to get Vietnam visa.
- Citizen from ASEAN countries also are exempt of visa if they travel to Vietnam and stay up to 30 days.
- Travelers from France, Spain, Italy, The UK, Germany get their exemption for visa if they travel to Vietnam and stay for 15 days or less. They must bring their passport which is valid for more than 06 months and they show their return air ticket. In the case, they'd like to stay longer than 15 days, they have to apply Vietnam visa as required. If they return to Vietnam for the second time within less than 30 days, they need to comply with visa policy whilst applying the Vietnam visa on arrival. This new policy takes effect from 01 July 2015 to 31 June 2016.
Tourist visa is normally a SINGLE ENTRY with validity of 30 days. That means you enter and exit Vietnam for one time ONLY. If you enter and exit the country for many times, you need a visa MULTIPLE ENTRY.
