Welcome to Hoian, Unesco's World Heritage Site since 1999.
A 30 minutes drive from Danang Airport to Hoi An Old Town. Hoi An or Hoian has earned a reputation as one of Vietnam's most picturesque towns. Declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1999, Hoi An draws visitors to its lovingly preserved mix of Vietnamese, Chinese, Japanese and French architecture - evidence of the town's fascinating past as a major trading port. From the 17th to the 19th century, Fai Fo which is Hoian's old name riverside port was frequented by traders from as far away as Holland, China, Japan and India, who came for Vietnam's silk, porcelain, pepper, cinnamon and medicinal plants. While the trade dried up when the river filled with silt, the town distinctive architecture remains intact, having miraculously survived the wars in the 20th century.
Hoian Old Town features traditional shop - houses, the facades of which are made from carved ironwood.
The front rooms of these houses served as shops, while the families lived on the second floors. Central and back courtyards allowed both sunlight and fresh air to penetrate. To this day, many houses have a pair of carved wooden yin yang symbols are thought to protect the house's inhabitants from ghosts and bad luck.
Up to date, Hoian becomes a tourist hub as famous as Halong Bay. Almost travelers enjoy a vacation in Vietnam, Hoian is a must-do in their journey.

Hoian is a peaceful and charming town in the Central of Vietnam. The weather is warm and hot around the year. Tourists can travel to Hoian every season to indulge into the ancient charm. You will witness the fellow travelers come to Hoian everyday, specially in Hoian Old Town in the evening. While you enjoy some juice fruit or dink beer in a bar on the bank of Thu Bon river from 05:00pm to 11:00pm, you immerge into the local atmosphere of hundreds people walk in the light of moon or electric lighters. This is an amazing feeling you got whilst in Hoian Old Town. -
How to get there?

Hoian is accessible from Danang by car (30 minutes) and by train from Hue (1h30).
If you travel by train from Hanoi or Saigon, you should get down at Danang Railway Station, then you reach Hoian by car.
Thus, travelers loving Hoian have to fly from Hanoi or Saigon to Danang first. Then they take a car or taxi to Hoian. -

Hoian has a lot of things to offer: walking tour in Hoian Old Town, cruising on Thu Bon river, cooking class in Coco River Resort or Red Bridge School or cycling to Tra Que village etc...
- Hoian Old Town is the most favorite sightseeing and a must-see in Hoian. Stroll around to visit Chinese communal houses such as Phuc Kien, Tan Ky, Quan Cong, Sa Huynh Art Museum, Japanese covered bridge. Hoian central market is stunning and busy in the morning where local people buy vegetables, goods for their daily needs.
- Hop on a bike to Tra Que village to live as a farmer. It takes only 30 minutes by bike from Hoian Old Town. You can cycling around on Cua Dai road before reaching Tra Que village or bike on the road Hai Ba Trung with paddy fields on the way. Once you get here, experience daily life of local people such as farming, watering vegetables and spicy herbs to learn how to grow the aromatic herbs for your noodle soup. Afterwards, cooking class in a local family is another activity to enjoy. You can learn to cook regional dishes in Hoian: Hu Tieu, My Quang, white rose (banh bot loc)... A foot massage help you to relax after cycling and cooking.
- Enjoy a cruise on Thu Bon river to visit Kim Bong village producing shipbuilding yard, wooden ships, boats, furniture, sculptures and carvings.
- You also ride a bicycle to surrounding villages in Cam Thanh, Cam Nam or along Cua Dai and An Bang beaches. Further, it is also exciting to explore My Son sanctuary, listed by UNESCO as World Heritage Site in 1999.
