Hanoi

Welcome to Hanoi, Vietnam !

Hanoi, the capital of Socialist Republic of Vietnam today, is located in the Red River Delta and in the heart of North Vietnam. Hanoi becomes the political, economic, cultural, commercial and tourist center of the country, the second biggest city after Hochiminh city demographically and geographically. It was founded in 1010 AD during the reign of King Ly Cong Uan.

Although Hanoi was always destroyed by war times, many ancient architectural features are still preserved in Hanoi, especially in the fascinating warren of streets known as Hanoi Old Quarter. There are over 600 pagodas, numerous lakes like Hoan Kiem Lake...and parks, where local people tend to gather at weekend and in the evening. The most notable lakes are fabled Hoan Kiem Lake in the heart of the city, and the vast extensive of West Lake. The most popular sights include One Pillar pagoda, former bureau of Governor's Indochina, Hochiminh's mausoleum, Ngoc Son temple and Temple of Literature known as the first university of Vietnam dynasties.
